Very Reverend Archpriest Dennis M. Bogda, Rector


St. John's Byzantine Cathedral: a Cathedral in the Byzantine Catholic Archeparchy of Pittsburgh dedicated to St. John the Baptist
 
Fr.  Dennis M. Bogda was appointed Rector of St. John’s Cathedral on June 6, 2008.

With this appointment, he has returned to his “home” Parish.   The Bogda family has been life-long
members of the Cathedral.  His maternal grandfather, Mr. Andrew Kushner,  was one of the Cantors
when the Cathedral was located on Tenth & Dickson Streets.   His uncle, Fr . Michael A. Kushner,
was a Byzantine Priest in the Archeparchy of Pittsburgh and served as Pastor in various churches
in Pennsylvania, New York and West Virginia.

Fr. Dennis attended high school at St. Michael’s in the South Side area,  Duquesne University and  Byzantine Catholic Seminary.  He was ordained on April 23, 1967 and has served as Pastor in the following Byzantine Churches:

Founding Pastor – Church of the Resurrection,  Monroeville, PA
Pastor - St. Nicholas, Youngstown, Ohio
St. John the Baptist, Lyndora, PA

In addition, he was also the Administrator of the Byzantine Catholic School in Youngstown, Ohio.  In 2007, he was elevated to the title of Archpriest.

Currently, Fr. Dennis serves in the Archdiocesan Offices as Vocation Director,
Member – Board of Consultors,  Member – Board of Directors, Byzantine Catholic Seminary and Syncellus of Deacons.
 
 
 


Deacon Timothy J. Corbett

St. John's Byzantine Cathedral: a Cathedral in the Byzantine Catholic Archeparchy of Pittsburgh dedicated to St. John the Baptist

Deacon Tim Corbett was ordained to the Diaconate on November 24, 2007.

 

He has been serving at St. John the Baptist Parish since February 1, 2009.

 

He was born and raised in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Deacon Tim is the husband of Cindy Corbett and father of Elizabeth Corbett.  Cindy and Tim were married at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church on the Southside of Pittsburgh in October 1990.

 

His service at the parish includes serving at the Divine Liturgy, visiting sick and home-bound parishioners, teaching adult education classes and preaching homilies.
